Top 3 Benefits of Pole Fitness

I don’t think many people outside the pole dancing bubble truly understand the benefits of pole dancing. One thing I have done since owning APF is really tried to understand what value our students get for being a part of our community. I have overheard conversations in the studio, spoke to hundreds of women, completed quite a few surveys, and just paid attention to what people have been saying to me over my ten years in the industry. From all of this, I have discovered three distinct benefits to pole dancing.

1.Confidence

2.Fitness

3.Friendships

Confidence

“It’s all about confidence baby”

This one makes me the most excited! Students coming into a studio and leaving a little more confident. It gets me every time. This benefit includes self-love, self-acceptance, feeling more confident in your skin, and being more confident with who you are. There is no pretending. It is you and you are accepted for you. Pole dancing challenges your body (and mind) in ways you wouldn’t normally be challenged. Most people will see a trick and quite quickly admit defeat. We often hear “I could never do that!”. When you achieve that trick for the first time, you add a little confidence into your bucket. Pole dancing takes you outside your comfort zone and that helps you GROW.

Fitness

“I heard it is great for fitness”

Yes! Pole dancing is a killer workout. You will hurt in places you never knew existed! But don’t let that scare you away. Most pole dancing studios will cater to those who have not done exercise in years. Instructors are amazing at tailoring their classes to suit their audience. Many students find after they start it boost their motivation. They become more active and start paying attention to what they eat, improving their overall fitness.

Friendships

“All my friends are pole friends”

If you are reading this and you are worried about attending your first class on your own, DON’T BE. I myself attended my first every pole class on my own and honestly, it was the best decision. I have made so many lifelong friends. For the most part, you are all experiencing pole dancing together for the first time. In most studio, you will generally start and stay with a small group for your first one or two terms. You get to know the others in your classes, laugh together, dance together, and learn new things together. As a studio owner, I have seen so many of these friendships form. It is amazing how easily it happens.

What more can you ask from a sport? It is crazy how amazing this industry is. If you are looking for something new in your fitness routine, want to love yourself again or more and don’t know where to make new friends in this day and age? Google “pole dancing” in your local area. Give it a try and reap the benefits, like so many others have!
