Student Showcase Rules and Regulations
Performer
A performer may apply as a solo or in a group (2 or more people).
All performers must always comply with the showcase rules and regulations. At any time, the performer can get clarification by emailing showcase@addictivepolefitness.com
The performers must be over 14 years old and current member of Addictive Pole Fitness.
Performers must be available to perform on 14th October 2023. If at anytime the performer’s availability changes, they must contact Steph at showcase@addictivepolefitness.com
Performers must arrive at the venue on the day of the showcase for rehearsals.
Performers must ensure they warm up and stretch properly before performing.
Performers must not consume alcohol or any other substance before performing.
The performers can only submit applications.
Application
Only full applications will be considered. This means all fields of the application must be completed in full at the time of submission.
A maximum of fourteen (14) applicants will be invited to perform at Showcase.
If there is an overwhelming response, the organiser will invite applicants based on a first-in-best-dressed basis, of applicants who have completed a full submission.
If there is an overwhelming response, applicants who have submitted multiple applications will only be invited for one (1) performance, and the group performance will take preference.
Venue:
The showcase will be held at Addictive Pole Fitness, located at Unit 4, 1 Elayne Street Underwood.
The poles used will be 2x 38mm Brass Poles and 2 x 45 mm Brass Poles.
The poles can be a combination of spinning and static. The combination must be approved by the organiser and may be subject to change.
The 38mm poles are approximately 3 metres apart, with the 45mm poles 1.7m behind and also 3 metres apart.
The poles are approximately 4 metres high and fixed.
The performers waive to the fullest extent permitted by law all legal rights of action against and fully release the Addictive Pole Fitness and Addictive Pole Fitness Related Parties for the loss, damages, or injury howsoever arising out of or in relation to the participation by the performers in the activities conducted or organised by Addictive Pole Fitness and Related Parties including without limitation, liability for any negligent or tortious act or omission, breach of duty, breach of contract or breach of statutory duty on the part of the Organisers or Related Parties.
Performance:
Performances must be between 2.5 and 4 minutes long.
All props must be approved by the Organiser. A maximum of 2 Human props are permitted, as long as they do not make physical contact with the pole and sign a liability waiver. Performers should note that human props should add to the story of their performance and not detract from it.
Any type of footwear is allowed, including boots and bare feet.
Gloves are allowed
Dry Hands, Enviro Grip, Dancing Dust Girlie Grip, Tite Grip, Shaving Cream, Sticky Molly and Dew Point are approved grip products. Any other product must be approved 2 weeks before the competition. The grip can only be applied to the competitor. No grip will be applied directly to the poles.
The performers acknowledge and accept that Addictive Pole Fitness and its owners and staff (the Organisers) their directors, instructors, employees, agents, landlords, leases or franchisees (“Related Parties”) and Addictive Pole Fitness venue and its owners and staff (Venue) their directors, instructors, employees, agents, landlords, leases or franchisees (“Venue Related Parties”) are not responsible for injury or damage resulting from participation in the competition, including the competitors’ arrival and departure from the competition.
The performers acknowledge that pole dance is a dangerous activity and as such the competitors voluntarily accept the risks associated in participating in the competition.
Performances with sensitive content must be approved by Addictive Pole Fitness. If the performance is approved, a trigger warning may be announced prior to the performance, to provide the audience with the opportunity to decide if they would like to watch. These can include but are not limited to:
Mental health
Sexual assault
Disability
Abuse or torture
Self-harming behaviour
Eating disorders
Suicide
Hate speech or strong abusive language
Violence, including domestic violence
Murder or physical assault
Depiction or discussion of discriminatory attitudes or actions, such as racism, sexism,
homophobia, prejudiceDrug, alcohol or substance abuse
Performances that display racism, homophobia, whorephobia or that are likely to incite hatred towards a minority, will not be tolerated.
Removing costume parts is permitted as long as the minimum clothing requirement is maintained. G-string, pasties and partial nudity are the minimum requirements.
Costumes must provide good coverage of all private areas.
Any body paint, chalk or other, must not come in contact with the pole.
Props of any kind can not leave the stage and must be well rehearsed.
No projectiles, eg streamer canon.
Photography and Film
Performers are aware that they may be photographed or videoed during their performance.
Photos may be purchased after the performance. The performer acknowledges that photos or videos may be published by Addictive Pole Fitness or their related parties.
Performs acknowledge that their performance may be live-streamed and will not hold Addictive Pole Fitness responsible for who can view. it
All photography and video remain the property of Addictive Pole Fitness.
The performer releases all rights or claims over any photos or videos and acknowledges that such material is the property of and can be used by Addictive Pole Fitness for promotional or other uses without compensation to the competitor.
Performers may film their own performances and are free to use them as they see fit. By submitting an entry form into showcase you understand and agree to all Terms & Conditions stated above.
Music
Music must be supplied in full as one piece at least 2 weeks before the showcase.
Spotify will not be available for use during the night. Please supply a link to an mp3 copy of your music.
The same song may not be used more than once within the showcase. Preference will be given to the first person who submitted their song choice.
Other
The organiser reserves the right to change the rules at any time
